Churchill Downs Inc. will require all corporate employees to get COVID-19 vaccines

The company that runs Churchill Downs is now requiring all of its employees at its corporate headquarters to get COVID-19 vaccines.Churchill Downs Incorporated announced this week that it will require its employees to get their first dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine by Aug. 16, “unless reasonable accommodation is approved.”The mandate is also in place for employees of TwinSpires, an online horse betting and wagering website. TwinSpires is the website Churchill Downs uses to place bets online for races, including for the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks.According to a spokesperson for Churchill Downs Incorporated, there are 309 employees across both headquarters in Louisville.The company declined to offer additional details about the new policy. Churchill Downs Incorporate becomes one of the first well-known company’s in the Louisville region to require employees to get vaccinations.The metro’s three health systems are requiring their employees to get COVID-19 vaccines. UofL Health, Baptist Health and Norton Healthcare have rolled out policies with different timelines for their employees in the region. The racetrack’s goal has been to get back to full capacity for the 2022 race.
